Why Tonight's Pink Full Moon is so important

Pluto and Persephone are the Roman god and goddess of the underworld. Their sacred marriage gets revealed when we all listen to the feminine through our bodies and then bring the masculine god into action, even when it means speaking up for a truth that takes courage.

Here is a trivia question. What does Peter Buxton, Frank Serpico, and Karen Silkwood all have in common? If you read farther, I will share what made these ordinary people famous heroes.

Two weeks ago I had a dream in which Oprah was telling me that I needed to engage the part of me that is Aquarian and Sagittarian and be a whistleblower. Oprah by the way is an Aquarian with a Sag moon. I on the other hand, have no personal planets in Aquarius. In fact, my Saturn (where you are constricted or underdeveloped) is in Sagittarius and my Chiron, (where your childhood wound is that you are here to heal and help others with) is in Aquarius. I was born under the tender, sensitive sign in triplicate of feminine Cancer. In other words, this does not come easily to my nature. These two archetypes are more underdeveloped parts of me.

I mention this because if I am being called to stand up for my truth, then we all are. I just choose to use vulnerability as my strength. I have admired people who risk their lives selflessly to protect others or bring a truth to the public but I also know they lose their jobs and their lives. I am going to honor at least one brave soul in the past 60 years who has made our lives better for their heroism in each newsletter as we build to the solar eclipse in June.

Peter Buxton, a Caucasian public health service investigator in 1966 sent a letter to the national director of the Division of Venereal Diseases expressing his concerns about the ethics and morality of the extended U.S. Public Health Service Syphilis Study at Tuskegee.^[34] The CDC, which by then controlled the study, reaffirmed the need to continue the study until completion; i.e., until all subjects had died and been autopsied. This study went on for 40 years. To bolster its position, the CDC received unequivocal support for the continuation of the study, both from local chapters of the National Medical Association(representing African-American physicians) and the American Medical Association (AMA).^[6]

Buxtun finally went to the press in the early 1970s. The story broke first in the Washington Star on July 25, 1972, reported by Jean Heller of the Associated Press.^[9] It became front-page news in the New York Times the following day. Google Tuskegee experiment to understand why the uneducated Black poor today might be hesitant to receive a covid shot.

Frank Serpico was a NY city police officer who reported several of his fellow officers for bribery and related charges in front of the Knapp Commission probing police corruption in the NYPD. “Serpico was the first police officer in the history of the NYPD to step forward to report and subsequently testify openly about widespread, systemic corruption payoffs amounting to millions of dollars.[12] The 1973 film Serpico with Al Pacino is an account of his story.” A great film to watch and according to the real Serpico, stayed true to his book. He had to leave the country due to death threats. There are to this day, NY city cops who believed he was a traitor but there was a significant change in “business as usual practices” after his testimony about N.Y.P.D. police culture.

Karen Silkwood ( played by Meryl Streep in the 1983 movie) was the first prominent nuclear power whistleblower who worked as a chemical technician at a Kerr-McGee nuclear plant. She was the last person you would have thought to become an activist. Silkwood became an activist in the Oil, Chemical and Atomic Workers International Union in order to protest health and safety issues. In 1974, she testified to the United States Atomic Energy Commission about her concerns. The film Silkwood was brilliant. I encourage seeing it if you haven’t.

These people were ordinary citizens who stood up for justice. Under this full moon in Scorpio tonight and for the next five months as Pluto retrogrades. this god is calling us to go deep into ourselves and excavate what we are afraid to speak up against. The full moon in Scorpio is meant to honor the dark goddess Persephone. She accesses intuitive wisdom through listening to our bodies. Pay attention to your dreams for the next two nights. Before sleeping, light a candle to the feminine face of God. ( she came to me as Oprah Winfrey!) What is she calling you to act on?Remember that if we give the underworld god and goddess their due through looking at where we stand in the way of our power, they also bring us wealth. Frank Serpico risked his life but he was also set for life ( he now lives in upstate NY) from his book and the film. But that is not the only way to feel wealthy. Getting to the end of your life and knowing you lived in truth is the greatest expression of prosperity I know. More to the point though is that we are building now to two very powerful eclipses on May 26th and June 10th in Sagittarius and Gemini ( the rulers of truth and lies in media and communication). More is going to be revealed, I predict.

Pay attention daily to looking through social and broadcast media not at. If you lean back into your body wisdom, you will hear what is propaganda and what is the truth. I invite you to be a whistleblower in your community in whatever modest ways you feel pulled to speak up around.

In a world that aspires for things to “go viral”, we will never eliminate viruses, but we can allow them to transform every part of us that causes a weakened immune system. That is the grand paradox!

How are you sleeping these days? So many of my clients and friends have reported having sleep issues recently as well as myself. And the most common time of awakening seems to be around 3:00 AM. In Chinese medicine, this is the transition time from the liver to the lungs. The liver holds our anger and even rage, where the lungs hold our grief. Can you relate? Have you felt both these emotions as well as perhaps a feeling of helplessness when someone you care about has been ill or died this past year? Two members of my family who are younger than me are dealing with late stage cancers diagnosed in the last year.

Although this recent virus has had a catastrophic effect worldwide, there are other viruses still claiming lives and the numbers are climbing. According to UNAIDS : There were approximately 38 million people across the globe with HIV/AIDS in 2019. Of these, 36.2 million were adults and 1.8 million were children (<15 years old). 700,000 people died from AIDS related illnesses. And just like the most recent virus and its variants, those hardest hit are in low and middle income areas and countries. 80% of the world population is estimated to be carrying the Human Papilloma Virus ( also referred to as HPV) which can be transmitted by any genital contact not just through semen. This virus, if left undetected, can progress to cervical cancer in women and in smaller numbers, strain #16, throat cancer in men.

So why am I writing about this in an astrology tips newsletter? In medical astrology, Pluto rules cancer and viruses and we are a global family and therefore are bring affected by other viruses as well. I think the AIDS epidemic was the first time Western Civilization was confronted by the planet Pluto who is a complicated and diverse planet in its effect on humanity. And he lives within each of us somewhere in your astrological chart. He rules power and the abuse of power. He rules death and he rules transformation. He rules wealth and if you are having a hard Pluto transit, your shadow around money may be revealed and yes, microbes too. What is significant right now is that as he moves through the sign of Capricorn which governs society’s mores, political structures, father figures, and our career and life purpose, we are seeing the death of an old paradigm in any system that is outdated. Pluto will get within ¾ of one degree of the U.S. chart before it retrogrades until October, 2021. For those new to my newsletter, this is the first return of this planet to where it was at the signing of the Declaration of Independence. We broke from an empire and then formed the most powerful empire in history, in terms of global influence.

Further, it has evolved in a very different way than the Roman or British Empire which was more about land accumulation. The Leo north node of the U.S. chart shows its destiny was meant to lead the world, but empires typically last about 200 years. We are 44 years past that. Our influence on the world stage has been losing respect for some time now because like a computer with outdated programs (ie. those that give power to the patriarchy), a LifeQuake was bound to happen and paradoxically, to bind us to one another as a global family rather than nationalism in any country in the world. Before most of us knew we were about to enter a pandemic, I shared on Dr Sue Morter’s show The Healing Matrix last January on GAIA, that while we are still living in a dual universe, we are transforming… or dying is through the proliferation of viruses and addiction. 

It is a waste of human energy to focus blame on who is responsible for the latest virus. We all are. Having contracted the Epstein Barr Virus at 30, I’ve been studying viruses for a long time. Viruses proliferate in a toxic environment. You may be a great recycler and eat organic food but if your thoughts still tend to judgmentalism and dual thinking of good people and bad people, you make yourself more vulnerable to viruses. I certainly did.

Do the math on those stats I put up above and that was just 3 of the many we are exposed to. You are most likely carrying around a few yourself asymptomatically. I believe that if we want to end poverty ( those who are hardest hit), we must end our poverty consciousness within. How are your thoughts creating inner and outer pollution? Conversely, how are they helping the collective consciousness to evolve? The earth is composed of 71% water. According to H.H. Mitchell, Journal of Biological Chemistry 158, the brain and heart are composed of 73% water, and the lungs are about 83% water. The skin contains 64% water, muscles and kidneys are 79%, and even the bones are watery: 31%. Water is a powerful conduit. 

In Jungian psychology, water symbolizes emotions. How you talk to yourself informs the health of your inner biome. Water holds your emotions more toxically than a piece of cake will ever do. Is it no surprise that our oceans are in such a toxic state?

Every day we are being given contrary information about what to do about the current global virus. First it was social distancing and mask wearing in public gatherings will fix it. Half the people stopped doing that, so it didn’t work . Then it was the vaccine. And the most current information from the CDC is that even if you have been vaccinated twice and it has been 14 days, it is best to continue wearing a mask and social distancing until we reach (now they are saying 80% herd immunity whenever that is). And that with the variants, you will need to get a booster because the CDC is now saying that the efficacy of the vaccine is about one year. I am not anti-vaccine. If it makes you less fearful or more safe or you want to travel this summer, I get it. I am looking at longer term solutions that we do have control over.

Epidemiologists are all predicting another pandemic coming as well. Well, Pluto doesn’t hit exactitude to its return to the natal chart of the U.S. until next February, 2022. We are not out of the waters for some time before we get all the transformation it is here to bring. And speaking of water, Neptune in its own sign of Pisces is asking of us to clean up the water by getting off our oil dependency. This god showed himself in the ship fiasco recently. What a metaphor that was. According to the N.Y. Times, “the Suez Canal is not just any waterway. It is a vital channel linking the factories of Asia to the affluent customers of Europe, as well as a major conduit for oil.”

Restructuring the world’s mind set of lack takes time. We will not thrive until we truly handle hunger, disease, poverty, and the massive disparity of economics on this planet. As Buckminster Fuller said, “A world where no one is left behind.” I was told in a dream last year that in the new world coming, countries that have wide economic disparity will not survive. 

No one in the broadcast news except the integrative medical community is talking about what losing weight ( if you are overweight), meditating, giving up fermented sugar, and eating a more organic, alkaline diet will do for you and mostly they only get on alternative stations. Messages that don’t engender fear but provide ways to take personal responsibility and control are banned. I have personally witnessed people who do live those lives and have repeatedly been exposed to this virus from others, repeatedly also have tested negative on Covid tests.

Pluto redeems us if we go to his underworld and do our shadow work. He rules secrets and addictions. What addictions have you not been willing to look at and heal? I’ve been looking at my social media one, personally. If we integrate every part of us that is shame based in some way by acknowledging it and choosing to love that part, we heal ourselves and the planet. Who would have thought that my not gathering many thousands of followers would bring up feelings of guilt for not focusing on this? And as the myth goes, if we bow before Pluto in the underworld (anyone who has ever gone to an Anonymous meeting and admitted they were an ___aholic can relate to this), he will deliver wealth in whatever areas it will serve your soul the most.
