When you break with the “party line” be it at work, your children’s school, or social media, you risk cultural shaming but in potentially standing alone, you bring the world forward.
Dr. Toni Galardi
Now that we have three planets in watery Pisces and three in earthy Capricorn, I thought I would talk about mud! Mercury is now officially retrograde in Pisces, the sun is about to go in on Tuesday, and the planet of illusion and dreams Neptune also in its own sign of Pisces, can make our thinking be a bit skewed and mud-dled.
Case in Point: A client came to me needing to make a decision about two different job offers. One paid more money with greater benefits, the other was a start up and much riskier. In looking at his chart as part of career coaching, I could see that he was better suited to working in an environment where his voice would count even as a new hire. I asked his permission to enter the energy field around his body. What I saw there was that he had been cyber bullied at some point in his life and it caused him to shut his intuition down.
He affirmed that classmates had made fun of him for having psychic abilities. Once we cleared that (in this case, childhood trauma), I could ask him to go into his heart and ask that question of himself. Unblocked, he was able to come to his own conclusion that the start up would be a better fit for him. The job that paid more money was the job his parents thought he should take because it was with a very established company in the Bay area, where he grew up.
Shame can get buried in our unconscious. Shame based memories that comes from doing dishonest acts are sometimes more available to our conscious mind ( stealing candy when you were 8 for example) than shame that comes from the tribe. When we choose a job, a relationship, or stand up to a prominent person in our tribe, we confront being shamed and ostracized. Further, if making that brave choice does not lead to happily ever after, well, then, we are really left with unresolved feelings about having chosen with our heart.
With Pluto, the god of the shadow and underworld in Capricorn, as I have mentioned before, our society is deconstructing. For this deconstruction to restructure into a healthy culture, we need to look long and hard at our own values. Do you know what your values are apart from what you inherited from your family and the culture you live in or grew up in? What you won’t betray no matter what?
Once in a great while, a leader comes along who is a visionary and takes on a mighty established order. Perfect? No. But neither was Gandhi or Martin Luther King. Mikhail Gorbachev was the last leader of the Soviet Union, serving from 1985 until its collapse in 1991. His attempts at reform helped end the Cold War, and also ended the political supremacy of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (CPSU) and dissolved the Soviet Union. He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1990.
The predominance of water signs in his chart are indicators of a person with strong emotions. His Sun sign and Mercury are in the sign of Pisces with the Moon in Leo which by itself would have made him able to be an actor who is highly intuitive but his Libra rising gave him diplomatic skills. What allowed him to rise to the top karmically was having the planet of abundance Jupiter right at the top of the career house with the planet of assertion Mars and the planet of transformation Pluto all lined up in the sign that rules our country (the U.S.), Cancer. He had a date with destiny in dealing with his own country and ours.
He has a rare combination of shrewdness, ambition, and empathy all rolled up into one individual. This is the chart of a visionary who unfortunately, in the Soviet Union was not regarded with the respect that we here in America have given him. He is associated with the destruction of the motherland there.
The moon in Leo can endow a person with great courage and it did take courage to take down the old guard of the KGB. Where in your life are you being called to end an ancestral pattern, in order to follow your soul’s true calling? I invite you to spend these next three weeks during the Mercury retrograde and dig deep. Is there any area of your life in which you are not living in alignment with your true values?Feel free to write me and share. This is such a rich time to do our own inner work so that the cultural mores can change and with it will come new leadership in our country. Yep, it’s an inside job.
Astrology Tips for Your Work Week
1) We are in the waning period of the moon until Feb 23rd, 7:32 AM PST. Focus on what needs completing. Engage a new moon ritual next Sunday for the new monthly cycle. The new moon is in Pisces so we will have four planets in the sign that rules intuition, vision, dreamtime, the imagination ( accessing the artist), and movies (for those who are scriptwriters).
2) The big event is the Moon Mars occultation on Tuesday. 02/18/20 – 3:38 am PST – average Moon occultation MarsThis from my astrologer colleague in Los Angeles, Jim Schultz:
“An occultation is a “super conjunction,” that is the two points are basically at the same degree of the zodiac and the same degree of declination. What might be the significance of Mars, god of war disappearing behind the Moon, symbol of the feminine? Is this a sign that women are gaining new power or of powerful men surrendering more power to women? This occultation will repeat in March. Pay attention to what unfolds within you and in the world.
With clear skies this will be visible in the Los Angeles area and should be visible throughout California and the west coast. To see it, go out a few minutes earlier and look to the east as the Moon rises just above the horizon. Look for Mars, a small red “star” near the Moon’s illuminated edge. Watch as He disappears behind She the Moon. Don’t worry, he will reappear from the dark edge about 50 minutes or so later.
This occultation occurs at 1 Capricorn. Perhaps we might gain some insight from the Sabian Symbol for this degree. “Three stained glass windows, one damaged by bombardment.” Sometimes things may be damaged intentionally or unintentionally. Don’t despair; they can be repaired, but it will take intention and commitment on your part.
Tuesday, 02/18/20 – 8:57 pm – Sun enters PiscesCan you feel the shift from fixed air love for humanity Aquarius to mutable water striving for the divine, Pisces? The coming month will be a good time to reflect on your religious and/or spiritual beliefs.
3) The moon is void on Thursday from 9:15 AM -2:45 PM, PST. Avoid meetings involving decisions, big purchases or surgical procedures.
This is not the week to launch anything new especially Tuesday and Thursday.
My fees are going up March 15. Working with me one on one during the Mercury retro is a great time to enter the portal to your unconscious and do an early Spring cleaning.

Pisces rules compassion and wisdom, be kind to yourself and others, and I invite you to listen to your gut no matter what the cost as we move through these muddy AND muddled times.
